Early c 1860 Civil War era DR. J HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS Bottle. The bottle is black glass (looks dark olive green in a bright light), 2 part hinge mold, the four corners are beveled, has hand applied tapered lip and glass is shiny with no haze. It is crude as expected with a very early bottle. The embossing is bold on the front panel, the other three sides have no embossing. My photos do not do justice to this really neat and beautiful antique bottle. There is a small chip on the outer edge of the lip that is barely a quarter inch wide. The bottle is 9 1/4 inches tall and 3 inches square with the front panel slightly concave. The last photo is the back panel.
E bottle is heavy with thick glass and. Weighs nearly 1 1/2 pounds. It will be double boxed with lots of bubble wrap and is from a smoke free home. I will be sure to describe my items the best I can and note any flaws.HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS Bottle Civil War Era c 1860 Black Glass" is in sale since Thursday, April 30, 2020.
