René Lalique designed his complete "Garniture de Toilette (Bathroom Set) Dahlia" in 1931 (photo 8 from the Marcilhac book, the unofficial Lalique "Bible"). It included 7 pieces: 4 bottles, 2 boxes and a bowl for a sponge. 1", the largest since creation, 21 cm or or 8 1/3" tall, 3 wide and weighing 2 1/2 Lbs. It was never intended for perfume, but for lotion, liquid soap and shampoo. This bottle is "Post-1945" (René Lalique's death) and is therefore signed "Lalique France" (photo 6).

Lalique's personal signature, R LALIQUE FRANCE, was never used after his death. It was the first one to be discontinued, with only the smallest one Nr. One comforting factor about the "Dahlia" items is that, from creation and throughout their life, the details and the design have remained exactly the same.

In particular, the center pistil on both sides, enameled in black, (photos 4 and 5) is exactly as in 1931; so are the frosted glass thickness and quality, a nice change from the famous "Moineaux", the sparrow figurines, which over the years from 1928 to nowadays have become pitiful lumps of graceless glass with no details whatsoever. On this particular bottle, the body, the stopper, the sculpture and and the center black enamel on each side are excellent, with no break or chip, not even a nick or scratch.
