1740s OPEN PONTIL FREE BLOWN BLACKGLASS FLOWER POT WINE BOTTLE DUG IN PHILLY

  

Sharp open pontil in deep sunken bottom.... Smooth sheared lip with crude applied string collar..... Round tapered cylinder with long neck.... Excellent condition with no chips or damage.

It has a small natural "chip" on the neck just under the applied ring from when the blowpipe was snapped off the mouth of bottle. The sliver chip was mostly covered when the ring was applied.

A dug bottle with normal light overall haze... A really nice example that is coming out of our own personal collection. We bought this bottle from an old Philadelphia digger who says he dug it back in the 1970s in downtown Philadelphia during all the highway construction and excavation going on.
