Antique Lalique Perfume Bottle, Elegant Black Glass, Lady Figural Ambre D'Orsay

  
This listing offers a stunning antique perfume bottle by Lalique. It is the Ambre D'Orsay bottle identified in the Lalique perfume bottle book by Utt and Bayer. Information and pictures are on pages 59-61 and include the following.

Lalique's association with D'Orsay likely began in 1913 with a black glass bottle (also available in clear glass) for the scent Ambre D'Orsay (Figures 101-103). This architectonic squared cylindrical form with its caryatid-like corners is among Lalique's loveliest figurative designs and is especially elegant in black. This miniature work of art showcases 4 full-figured Grecian figures (all different) on the four corners of the bottle.

The contrast in their satin finish against the highly polished, mirror finish, of the bottle is stunning. The stopper repeats this satin/mirror-polished contrast with engraved flowers and art nouveau swirls. It measures 5-3/8 inches tall and is marked Lalique and Ambre D'Orsay in raised letters on the base.

Condition is amazing - as you can see from the pictures. The figural bottle is perfect.

We have carefully examined it from every angle and there are no apologies whatsoever corners, edges, lady figures, base, opening, etc. The stopper is also in remarkable condition for its age (see close-ups) however we did find the tiniest bit of roughness on two sides. These flakes are miniscule and best seen when light reflects at an angle. However, these bottles are rare, and come at a premium, so we are being overly-critical in our examination and ultimate report to you. Sister will take close-ups from every angle.

I would like to keep this piece. However, life has a way of happening and changing our priorities.

Our story: Sister and I lost loved ones a few years back and have decided to live with each other in retirement. Our long term goal is a park for seniors with dementia and their caretakers - a peaceful place with little noise and few distractions. Proceeds from this lovely piece will be used toward that effort.
