Antique Vtg Early 19th C 1820s Pontilled Black Glass Ale or Beer Bottle 7.5 In

  

This offering is for an antique very early 19th century black glass ale or utility bottle. The bottle is made of a very deep dark olive green colored glass with a bit of amber in it. Sitting on the shelf it appears black but you can see the color when held to a strong light. The bottle has a rough pontil scar on the bottom and there are no actual mold seams present. I think the bottom from the shoulder down may have been formed in a dip mold but I'm really not sure.

The applied lip was wonderfully tooled and there are a couple of nice crease lines in the neck. 7.5" tall and 3.25" in diameter at the base. The condition is excellent with very minor wear to the surface but there are no cracks, breaks or repairs. The bottle is also appears to be clean with no staining.
