This offering is for an antique very early 19th century black glass beer or utility bottle. The bottle is made of a very deep dark olive green colored glass.Sitting on the shelf it appears nearly black but you can see the color when held to a strong light. The bottle has a rough pontil scar on the bottom and there are no actual mold seams present. I think the bottom from the shoulder down may have been formed in a dip mold but I'm really not sure. The applied lip was wonderfully tooled and there are a couple of nice crease and lightly twisted stress lines in the neck.
9.25" tall and 2.75" in diameter at the base. There is some scattered contents staining and a bit of very light haze on the lower outside surface. Otherwise the condition is excellent with very minor wear to the surface but there are no cracks, breaks or repairs. If additional photo's are needed or you have need of answers to questions we do not address we will be happy to supply them. WE USUALLY SEND OUR INVOICE WITHIN 1 HOUR OF THE AUCTIONS ENDING. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Bottles & Insulators\Bottles\Antique (Pre-1900)\Utility & Black Glass".
