Lalique's association with D'Orsay likely began in 1913 with a black glass bottle (also available in clear glass) for the scent Ambre D'Orsay (Figures 101-103). This architectonic squared cylindrical form with its caryatid like corners is among Lalique's loveliest figurative designs and is especially elegant in black. This art deco bottle showcases 4 full-figured Grecian figures (all different) on the four corners of the bottle. The satin finish of the ladies offers a striking contrast to the highly polished, mirror finish, of the bottle. The stopper repeats the satin/mirror contrast with engraved flowers and art nouveau swirls.

The bottle measures 5-3/8 inches tall and is marked Lalique and Ambre D'Orsay in raised letters around the base. Bottle and stopper are numbered.
