PONTILED 1840s KING OF FRANCE CROWN CREST APPLIED SEAL WINE BOTTLE PRIVY DUG

  
The design pictures a letter P facing to the right and a reverse P facing to the left, all with in a large O with Royal Crown a top. The bottle is hand blown with deep sunken kickup bottom that has a faint pontil scar.... Sheared lip with applied square ring around neck..... Good condition with only one small chip on the square neck ring; no other damage. A dug bottle with heavy overall haze. Louis - Philippe d'Orleans was born on Oct. 6 1773 in Paris, France.

He lived in exile for most of French Revolution, only returning to France after Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated. Following the July Revolution, Louis - Philippe became the " Citizen King " of France in 1830. He was a tyrant and was eventually forced to abdicate the throne in 1848 and get out of France to save his own life. 24, 1848 fleeing to England as Mr.

Smith, Louis spent the rest of his life in England. He was 76 years old when he died on August 26, 1850, in Claremont, Surry, England. This information was obtained from an estate once owned by a French family that fled France doing the period. We dug this interesting and rare bottle from an 1840s outhouse privy pin in New Orleans near the old "French Quarter"....... We are thinning out the herd as we go through boxes of 50 years of digging...
