Please feel free to make an offer. A Rare Antique Truffle Jar Black Glass. This is only the second one that I've had in over 42 years of collecting. It reminds me a little of the neck of a C17th Black Glass Onion Bottle. Beautiful in its sculptural type form & very dark green but looks more black in colour.

I believe that it's Hand blown. It works beautifully as either a piece of sculpture, ornament or vase. The very dark colour of the jar protects the truffle from light & allows it to help to preserve the taste qualities of the truffle.

This type of jar is tall & narrow, but rather small in size. It takes the form of a small, stocky bottle with a wide neck. The diameter of the neck is always larger than a conventional bottle to allow a truffle of good size to be put inside.

It's very dense & heavy in weight. In expected condition for an item of this significant age & nature.

There is a chip to the base from historical impact but it's amazing that it's still survived really. There are parts of the glass that is a sort of rippled in places also odd expected scratches & a very tiny nick also on the base. I expect it would probably of been dug up maybe as I've not cleaned it & it still looks a little dirty inside. The Neck outer measurements is just over 3.5 cm. The base is 5.2 cm in diameter.
