Rare Large Sapphire Blue Glass Snuff Bottle 18th-C Antique Chinese Tobacco Jar
An uncommon large glass snuff bottle, sapphire-blue with stopper and carved spoon. Beautifully made, pear-shaped, luminous blue glass with tiny bubble inclusions and a hand-polished surface. The base is carved with an indentation. The stopper (unsure if original) is jade-green glass on a brass stem with a hand-carved spoon, paddle-shaped. This bottle may date to late 18th century, Qianlong period, based on my research... Though I'm not completely sure. As found at a good southern California estate, among a collection of fine snuff bottles (see my other listings). An uncommon and beautiful bottle for the collector.
Shelf wear to foot consistent with age. Scattered tiny nicks along polished edges. Stopper and spoon as found, unknown if original.
