SMALL BLACK GLASS BOTTLE-Champagne Splits-Pipe Pontil-1820s-1830
SMALL BLACK GLASS BOTTLE-Champagne Splits-Pipe Pontil-1820s-1830. Offered is a selection consisting of one vintage Black Glass Champagne Splits bottle dating between 1820s and 1830s or so. 1-A 7 tall, black glass liquor bottle, appearing to be free blown, having a refired sheared lip with crudely appied string ring below. Color could be described as a medium greenish moss brown. Bottom has a kickup, with a well defined broken pipe pontil, slight offset shoulder, multi colored mirror ground patina. Most often described as a Champagne Splits bottle, for its appearance and half size to the other. Acquired from an old collection of New Orleans dug bottles, most likely French in origin. The bottle still has inside dirt, a small chip on edge of lip, looks like a manufacturing occurance, as it is smoothed off on top and edges.
